211 hat-tricks have been scored by players representing Manchester United (and Newton Heath). The earliest hat-trick was scored on 15 October 1892, when Newton Heath beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 10-1. (Two hat-tricks were actually scored that day, one by Bob Donaldson and the other by Willie Stewart.) The latest hat-trick was scored by Wayne Rooney on Saturday 23 January 2010 against Hull City.
On twenty-nine occasions, the player scoring the hat-trick went on to score four goals, on two occasions five, and on two occasions six. (On 25 September 1911, Harold Halse scored six times in the 8-4 victory over Swindon Town, and on 7 February 1970, George Best scored six times in the 2-8 victory over Northampton Town.)
Denis Law has scored the most Manchester United hat-tricks. He scored at least three goals in a match on eighteen occasions.
